Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis is still hurting after Saturday's FA Cup defeat against Hoddesdon at Woodstock Park.

Goalkeeper Adam Molloy has apologised for the red card that cost Brickies their place in the Cup - sent off for hauling down Hoddesdon striker Mark Summers in the penalty area after making a mess of a backpass.

The visitors scored from the spot and doubled their lead after the break before holding on for a shock 2-1 victory.

Molloy saved a penalty as Brickies upset Met Police in the last round but there was no defending his actions against Hoddesdon.

Boss Nick Davis said: “It was a moment of madness – he apologised afterwards.
“Molloy was the hero in the last round but evidently he’s cost us this game.

“It’s simply down to the fact that we had our keeper sent off why we lost.

“He had so much time when the ball came back to him.

“He should have just cleared it but he’s had a bad touch trying to take it round the player, who’s nicked it off him.

“You’re always going to get sent off when you take someone’s ankles away like that.

“Just let him score and we’d have kept 11 men on the pitch with plenty of time to get back in the game.

“It’s disappointing to go out. I’m still hurting but we’ve got to move on.”

Harry Smith also saw red as Sittingbourne lost 1-0 at Corinthian Casuals in Ryman League Division 1 South on Tuesday night.

Brickies were already trailing when Smith was sent off after 88 minutes.

They return to knockout action with an FA Trophy preliminary round tie at in-form Walton Casuals on Sunday (3pm), with £2,500 in prize money of offer.
