The Central Park curfew denied Kent Kings the chance to claim a draw against National League champions Cradley Heathens on Monday night.

A 5-1 in the final heat against unbeaten leaders Cradley would have earned a share of the spoils but there wasn't time to stage the race due to the 8.30pm curfew and Kings lost 41-37.

Kent did though push the West Midlanders hard on a night when few people gave them a chance of victory.

There was a possible first for speedway when heat two was declared 0-0 following Jason Garrad's exclusion and three retirements.

Captain Simon Lambert (12) and Benji Compton (10+1) kept Kings in contention before the meeting ended a heat early.

The curfew also denied Simon Lambert the chance to defend the Bronze Helmet.

Kings host the individual Laurels Championship for the WJ Cearns Trophy on Monday night (6.30pm).
