Sittingbourne are keeping their new recruits under wraps but the players manager Chris Lynch has agreed terms with may surprise and excite.

Lynch has been busy working on deals and could have as many as 11 new faces signed on when player registrations opens in the Bostik League in mid-June.

The Brickies boss doesn’t want to give anything away until then but he’s been talking with players who have been released by Football League clubs, along with plenty of others.

Lynch said: “Terms have been agreed and we’re just waiting to complete the paperwork now.

“Some people might be surprised and excited by the players that we’re bringing in.

“The whole club have come together and that’s a big success, right from the youth team upwards, we’re all singing from the same hymn sheet.

“The club are really pushing forward in the right direction and there has been a lot of work done behind the scenes.”

Lynch has been working on making the club more attractive off the field, too, in a bid to help with the playing budget.

He said: “When I first came in I wanted to move the club forward and we’ve got a commercial manager coming in which will help us attract more sponsors.

“We want to be more attractive on and off the pitch and we’re improving the facilities at the ground.”

Lynch and his coaching team are also keen on helping the players they’re signing progress.

He’s not interested in has-beens and will be hoping some of his new recruits can push back towards the top level.

He said: “We’re going to look after these players and help them push back into the Football League, if we can. It is not just about our careers, we want them to improve.

“Some might have been released because over the last year or two they haven’t developed as much as someone else but there is no reason they can’t do it here and prove what they can do. They are good players.

“Our job is to push players on, we’ve got a good blend of ages, nobody that is old-old and there are players here who have got a future, if they work hard."
