Nick Davis says Sit­tingbourne produced one of the best per­formances in their recent history to pro­gress in the FA Trophy.

Now Bourne are out to build on their victory over higher-league Merstham when they host Bostik North high-fliers Haringey Borough in the second qual­ifying round on Saturday.

Brickies stunned Bostik Premier Merstham 2-0 last week with second-half goals from Ben Gorham and Kane Philip.

It’s given them a shot against a Haringey side who are unbeaten going into their game at Romford on Wednesday.

Manager Davis said: “The replay was arguably one of the best performances in the recent history of the club.

“We stopped them playing and were bril­liant from start to finish.

“After drawing at home, when we should have won, you maybe think your chance has gone but to go there and play the way we did was fantastic.

“We could have been three up in 20 minutes and once we’d scored a couple of goals, we didn’t look in any doubt.

“Are we supposed to be in the Trophy at this stage?

“Probably not, so it’s a weekend we can go and enjoy without pressure on us. It’s a break from the league, which is important, and an opportunity to bag £4,000 for the club.”

Brickies are fifth in Bostik South after a 2-1defeat at home to Faversham on Tuesday. They looked to have salvaged a point after Kane Phillip's 88th-minute equaliser, but Luke Griffiths' second goal, in the last minute, gave the Lilywhites the win.

They’re off to Cray on Wednesday, subject to any FA Trophy replay.
