Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis warns his squad are playing for their futures at Ryman League Division 1 South club

Nick Davis has told in-form Sittingbourne players their futures are still on the line.

Manager Davis admires the way his mix of bright youngsters and experienced heads have pulled the club away from danger in Ryman League, Division 1 South.

But he needs to know they have what it takes to push on next season.

Davis said: “I’ve told the players only six or seven are guaranteed to be here next season. The other seven or eight are fighting for their places.

“I don’t want to sit still. I want to move on and them to show me they want to be here and are willing to put a shift in.

“I don’t know if what I said surprised them but at the end of the day, I’m ambitious.

“Look at Guernsey. A population of 70,000 and a crowd of 800 against us last week. Why can’t we be that club with gates like that?

“To get people through the turnstiles we must strive to get the best team we can on the pitch.”

Sittingbourne go to Walton Casuals on Saturday and host Swale rivals and play-off contenders Faversham at Woodstock on Easter Monday (both 3pm).

Stefan Wright and Miles Cornwell return but Jordan Wells (knee) is likely to miss the rest of the season.
