Former captain Dave Mason feels Kent Kings will struggle to keep star rider Steve Boxall.
Boxall continued his outstanding season with four heat wins as Kings beat Stoke Potters 53-42 at Central Park on Monday night.
They have won their last three home meetings in the National League and host top-of-the-table Dudley Heathens on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).
Kent’s improvement has coincided with the return of Mason, who was brought back after his early-season sacking.
He believes the team will only get better if they stay together but expects former Elite League and Premier League rider Boxall to leave.
Mason said: "I’m almost certain Steve will want to move on and you can’t blame him.
"I’m sure he’ll want to stay at Kent in a way but he’s got to do what’s best for his career. He’s been almost invincible this season and he’ll have offers to move on.
"He’s done it home and away and been a class above the rest."
