Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis says new signing David Smith was born to score goals.
Substitute Smith proved an instant hit after scoring a superb free-kick winner with his first touch as Bourne won 2-1 at Chipstead on Saturday.
And he was at it again last night, coming off the bench to bag the second goal in a 3-0 victory over Herne Bay.
The teenager joined from Lordswood over the summer but had gone under the radar before being unleashed from the bench.
Davis said: “He’s only 18 and I don’t want to talk him up too much but he’s a natural finisher.
“He’s one of those players who’s born to score goals.
“You see him in the box and he just gets on the end of things.
“He knows where to be - it’s like the ball gravitates towards him.
“We played him in a couple of in-house matches during pre-season and he scored five goals.
“He’s very powerful, he’s got a great left foot, he’s a strong lad for his age and he makes things happen.
“He is raw - one minute he’ll do something magical and the next the ball will bounce off his feet 10 yards - but he’ll definitely start games for us and he could have a very good future here.”
Smith looks certain to be involved when Sittingbourne start their FA Cup campaign on Saturday.
They’re off to West Sussex to play Pagham of the Southern Combination League Premier Division.
Brickies have done their homework as they look to secure £1,925 in prize money and a place in the next round.
Davis said: “Tony Cornwell (assistant manager) went to watch them last week and they won 4-0 at the weekend.
“We’ve seen their strengths and we think we know where we can get at them."
