The underdog tag suits Sittingbourne as they bid to reach the League Cup final.
Brickies are convinced they are good enough to go all the way and win the competition, even though few people expect them to beat Faversham in the semi-finals at Salters Lane on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
They have already won three away ties and a trip to Town, who are challenging for the play-offs in Ryman League Division 1 South, holds no fear.
Manager Nick Davis said: “They haven’t lost at home in four months but I don’t care about that.
“No one gives us a chance but on our day we are capable of beating anyone.
“There’s a determination in our dressing room to win the cup. We think we can do it - 100%.
“The underdog tag suits us. That’s how we want it to be.
“Let them think they’re going through. That’s fine by me.
“We’re at our best when we’re the underdogs and expected to lose.
“Deep down they know it won’t be an easy game and hopefully they’ll have one eye on the play-offs and we’ll be able to take advantage.”
Brickies will be missing cup-tied trio Steven Ita, Jordan Wells and Tom Carlse, while Andy Irvine and Billy French are injured.
The squad may be stretched but Davis believes they will cope.
He said: “I’d imagine it’ll be a tight game but you never know.
“I’ll be making the point to the players that we don’t have to win in 90 minutes - we’ll take penalties if we have to.
“The main thing is to stay in the game for as long as possible, defend well and when we get a chance, make sure we take it.”
