Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis planning for next season after pulling clear of danger in Ryman League

Nick Davis is already thinking about next season at Sittingbourne - and says he would be stupid not to.

Brickies are all but free of relegation worries after pulling clear of trouble in Ryman League Division 1 South.

A 16-point cushion - after a 2-0 win at East Grinstead on Tuesday night - has afforded manager Davis the chance to plan for the future.

Davis said: “We want to kick on and finish as high as we can.

“The club’s in a much better place than it was at the start of the season, what with the under-21 team, the cup runs and the players we’ve brought through.

“You can’t look too far ahead but I think you’d be stupid not to think about next year.

“We’ve identified players we think we can potentially get within the budget. We want to progress and do better.

“The majority of the squad I’d like to keep but I’m always looking to improve.

“Scoring goals has been the issue. I’d love to get a proven scorer.

“I’ve got two on the radar and if I can get one of them in the summer, then great.”
