Strikers Ricky Gundry and Anthony O’Connor have left Sittingbourne.

Gundry has rejoined Chatham while O’Connor can no longer commit to travelling.

Gundry’s been struggling with a knee injury and Brickies boss Nick Davis says he would be surprised if he featured against his side in Monday night’s rearranged Kent derby at Maidstone Road.

Davis said: “Ricky’s been out for three or four weeks already and he told me he’s looking at another three or four weeks.

“Chatham offered him an assistant manager’s role in the under-21s which appealed to him.

“He feels it’s maybe the right time to start slowing down with his playing and look at what’s next and we wish him all the best.

“I’d be very surprised if he plays against us on Monday because he told me he’s really struggling with his knee.”

O’Connor, who faded after a promising start at Sittingbourne, was travelling from Wembley to play.

Davis said: “The travelling was too much.

“It was taking him two hours to get here and he was hitting traffic every time.

“He demanded a lot of money from us. We knocked it down and I don’t know whether that was the incentive for him to go but we wish him all the best because he’s a really lovely lad.

“You want him to do well because he’s such a nice lad. Neil Cugley said the same when we got him in from Folkestone.”

Before Chatham, Sittingbourne meet Cray at Woodstock on Saturday.
