Sittingbourne have chosen their new manager – but the deal isn’t done yet.
Brickies have made an offer to the man they want to succeed Matt Wyatt after holding interviews over the past week.
If it falls through, Brickies will pick again from the shortlist of unsuccessful candidates.
Caretaker-boss Barry Crimmen, who was in the dugout for last week's defeat at Tooting & Mitcham, isn’t being considered but looks set to remain in charge when Bourne face Chipstead at Woodstock Park in Ryman League Division 1 South this Saturday.
Brickies are looking to name an experienced manager which appears to rule out former joint-boss Nick Davis.
Secretary John Pitts said: “We’ve made the man we want an offer and are in negotiations. We’ve not put a timescale on it but I’m sure he won’t keep us waiting past this week.
“He’s had success at our level and above and always seems to have been well accepted. I’ve not found anyone with a bad word to say about him. If he says no then we’d have to go back through the other applicants."
Strikers David Abe and Stephen Okoh could return from injury at Chipstead but Joe Nwoko is still unavailable after getting married. Captain Tom Brunt is set to start after Brickies rejected a fresh approach from Whitstable.
