Nick Davis could turn to the brother of Sittingbourne striker David Abe in a bid to solve Brickies’ problems up front.

Brickies have failed to score in four of their last five games and have dropped to 11th in Ryman League, Division 1 South ahead of a derby at title contenders Faversham on Saturday (3pm).

Boss Davis is considering a move for Manny Abe, brother of David and a prolific striker at Sunday League level.

Davis said: “I’m looking at him and he could be another option for us. He came along for pre-season and is an absolute beast at 6ft 4in – a proper unit. I thought he looked good but he didn’t sign for whatever reason.

“We just can’t score goals. Defensively, we’re in the top seven or eight teams in the division but unless we score goals, you’re going to be in trouble.

“I’ve said it a few times but Joe Taylor and Ryan Golding scored 100 goals between them over two seasons and you can’t lose that and expect to be all right. The games we’ve lost 1-0 or drawn 1-1, we’d have won if we had them.

“You’re looking for someone to step up and score 20 goals but it’s a big ask. I’ve been loyal and given people chances but we’re not scoring.”

Davis has boosted his defensive options by signing ex-Hythe man Lee Pleau, a product of Maidstone United’s academy.
