Sittingbourne plan to use Josh Wisson sparingly around his England Schoolboys commitments.
Brickies are concerned the 17-year-old midfielder is playing too much football and don’t want him to suffer burn-out.
Having returned from a training camp in Spain, they intended to rest him against Three Bridges last weekend.
But with Ollie Bankole unavailable at the last minute, they had no choice but to include him.
He’s likely to feature in the League Cup semi-final at Faversham on Tuesday but only because of a player shortage.
Beyond that, they want him to concentrate on international commitments, with England starting their Centenary Shield campaign in Wales on March 18.
Brickies boss Nick Davis said: “We don’t want Josh to play too much.
“He’s had a lot on with Kent and England.
“He flew back from Spain and ended up playing for us, which wasn’t ideal.
“We’ll probably use him in the cup game but after that we’ll wrap him up in cotton wool and let him do what he needs to do.
“He looked a bit tired on Saturday and you can’t blame him.”
Wisson will be rested when Sittingbourne go to Tooting & Mitcham in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday (3pm), while Billy French and Conrad Lee remain out with injuries.
