Manager Nick Davis is relishing the prospect of being the underdogs this weekend in the FA Trophy.
Sittingbourne have already impressed this season when playing against the odds and Davis is hoping for the same again on Saturday.
The Brickies are at home to a Bury Town side who sit second in Ryman League, Division 1 North and without a loss on the road so far.
Davis said: “We are strong at home but we will be the underdogs and I like that tag.
“We’ve lost to teams lower than us, like East Grinstead, and done well against the likes of Greenwich and Cray. When we’re expected to win, we’ve fallen short.
“We’ll be underdogs but on our day we can beat anyone at home at this level and it would be great to win to bring in some extra funds.”
The winners of the preliminary round tie receive £2,500.
Sittingbourne lost 2-1 at home to Ramsgate in the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday. Jordan Gallacher gave Brickies the lead, but two goals in a minute from Alfie Paxman and Aaron Millbank saw Rams home.
Jack Steventon and Stefan Wright both sat out the midweek clash through suspension after picking up five yellow cards, but the pair will be back for the Bury Town game.
Sam Welch missed out last weekend with a neck injury but there are hopes he will also be back available for selection.
