Nick Davis has declared Sittingbourne’s season a success.

Brickies finished 18th in Ryman League Division 1 South after an up-and-down campaign that saw them hit fifth place before plummeting into the bottom three after a
13-game losing streak.

Their young side recovered, ending up 24 points clear of the relegation zone.

Brickies can also point to FA Cup and League Cup runs and England Schoolboy recognition for defender Josh Wisson.

Boss Davis said: “It’s been a decent season. The club’s in a much better place than it was.

“We’ve more stability off the pitch, the youth section has given us a platform to build and we’ve been able to bring lads through.

“We made money from the FA Cup, which we didn’t have last year, and £1,500 from reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup, which helped us sustain the wages.

“Sittingbourne have pulled their money in the past but that hasn’t happened in the two years I’ve been manager.

“You look at it and we’ve had five teenagers in the side, one playing for England, another in Jack Steventon who’s won supporters’ player and manager’s young player-of-the-year and a team with an average age of 21-22 all season.”
