Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis is going nowhere.
A 6-1 thrashing by fellow strugglers Chipstead at the weekend was Brickies’ ninth defeat in a row in Ryman League, Division 1 South, but Davis has vowed to stay and sort out the mess.
He retains the support of chairman Maurice Dunk and had fans singing his name, even after the Chipstead humiliation.
Davis has, however, run out of patience with underperforming players and is ready to make changes to lead Brickies away from trouble.
“I’m hurting massively after the weekend,” he said. “We were atrocious and I feel let down by the players.
“I’ve been loyal to a lot of these lads because of the good run we had earlier in the season but I can’t keep going about that run – it’s boring me.
“We’ve lost nine in a row now and it might be that we have to let two or three go.
“Maurice is definitely on my side and I believe we’ll turn things around. I’ll keep fighting but we’ve got to start picking up points. In a way, getting hammered might have done us a favour. All the time we were losing by the odd goal you stick with the same players but no one’s got a leg to stand on now.
“I sent a message around to the whole squad with a few home truths. There’s no loyalty from me any more. That’s it.”
Brickies visit Hythe on Saturday.
