Charlton youngster Connor Leon looks set to join Sittingbourne for the rest of the season.

The midfielder, one of two Addicks academy players to train with Bourne last weekend, could feature when Sittingbourne host Walton Casuals in Ryman League Division 1 South at Woodstock Park on Saturday.

The second player, a forward, may also sign as part of the deal.

Brickies boss Nick Davis said: “I’ve made a good contact in Steve Avery, who’s the head of Charlton’s academy.

“We spoke a couple of weeks ago. He wouldn’t just send players out anywhere. I gave him my philosophy and he sent two lads down who are second-year YTS players.

“They’re debating whether to give them pro contracts and they need to be tested in men’s football.

“Connor is a ball-playing midfielder and the issue will be whether he can do it on heavy non-league pitches. Technically, he’s fantastic. It’s a different kettle of fish throwing him into non-league football but we’ve got guys who can do the ugly side of the game.

"We’ll be able to have him until the end of the season.”
