Returning Sittingbourne striker Harry Smith has been told he can play as high as he wants.

Boss Nick Davis is a fan of Smith, who started the season with Brickies before a spell at Tunbridge Wells. Smith is back at Woodstock Park and Davis believes the former Brentford youngster can go a long way.

Davis was still joint-boss when Smith moved to Sittingbourne from Sevenoaks last summer. He then played with him at Wells in Southern Counties East and made him a top target after succeeding Matt Wyatt as sole manager.

Davis said: “Harry has all the attributes to play as high as he wants. He’s 19, 6ft 5in, quick and good in the air.

“He’ll win his fair share of headers but he’s like Peter Crouch in that he’s actually better on the floor.

“He probably gets outmuscled a bit where he’s quite wiry but he’s still growing. I think I can help him get to the next level.

“I’ve said to him he might only be here for 10 or 12 games before someone comes in. He wants to play as high as he can.

Brickies host Kent rivals Hythe in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday. It’s the first of two home games in four days, with second-placed Merstham the visitors on Tuesday.
