Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis is hopeful of keeping his young squad together.
Davis is set to start talks this week as he looks to hold on to the players who delivered the club’s best points tally in eight years.
There’s plenty to build on after Brickies finished 15th in the Ryman League Division 1 South on 62 points.
Davis said: “I’m going to use this week to start having a chat with a few people.
“It’s early days and it’s all right people agreeing to stay in principle but until they sign forms, it’s difficult to say.
“I’d like to think the majorty will stay but until they turn up for the first day of pre-season, you just don’t know.
“They’ll all have the opportunity to come back because they’re a good bunch.
“No doubt a few will get calls from others clubs – that’s natural after a good season – but the big thing we can offer here is game time and the opportunity to play.”
A big challenge for Sittingbourne is to find the goalscorer who could help them break into the top half of the table.
Miles Cornwell, with eight, was their leading scorer this season – and he left for Folkestone last October.
Davis said: “We’d like to bring one or two in and a striker, someone who can get us 20 goals, is the priority over the next couple of months. I’ll be ringing around to see what I can do.”
