Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh has encouraged Sittingbourne to keep faith with manager Nick Davis.
Pressure is mounting after 10 defeats in a row in Ryman League Division 1 South but Edinburgh has spoken up for his old defender ahead of Brickies' home game against Worthing on Tuesday night.
Edinburgh was Davis' manager when Fisher won promotion to Conference South nine years ago.
The Gills chief said: "I know Nick - he played for me. He was an honest player with great desire.
"Every manager's going to go through a difficult period and you'll only become a better manager for being allowed to overcome those situations.
"I had it myself at Newport. I had a really good first two-and-a-bit years and then our second year in the Football League I think we went seven games without a win.
"I don't know if we lost them all but the club stood by me.
"My earlier couple of years allowed that to happen but how do you ever learn?
"You learn by dealing with mistakes and tough times.
"There aren't always going to be good times. It's just about a club having patience and any club who have continuity and longevity in their managers are the teams that have success, so you'd like to think they'll stick by Nick and give him the opportunity to get through it."
