Nick Davis can’t say what his best Sittingbourne XI is – because it changes game by game.
Boss Davis is in the unusual position of having more than 20 players to pick from for the Ryman League Division 1 South game at Walton Casuals on Saturday.
There will be some disappointed players but things could change when Brickies welcome struggling Guernsey to Woodstock for a rearranged match on Tuesday.
Davis said: “My best team all depends on who we’re playing and how they set up.
“People say you can only worry about yourselves, which is true to a degree, but you do need to be able to counter what the opposition are doing.
“You can say it’s about what we do but you’ve got to be aware of the opposition – 100%.
“You need to know how a team plays, what formation they use, what their strengths are, what they do at set plays."
Brickies have gone two Saturdays without a game following postponements against Guernsey and Chatham, while Tuesday night's home match against Herne Bay was also called off.
There should no issue this weekend as Walton Casuals play on 3G, groundsharing at Whyteleafe.
Davis said: “We just want to play and there’s a better chance on the 3G.
“Walton Casuals are as good as anything I’ve seen in this league going forward – they have three or four very good players – but you can get at them at the back.
“We beat them 3-2 at home, which was a great result but they’re used to their pitch and we’ll need to be resilient.”
