Sittingbourne’s latest signing is proving as good as his word.
Striker Remell Davis contacted the club promising goals and delivered with a special effort in a 4-4 friendly draw against Redhill.
Brickies are hopeful they have landed a gem in the ex-Lowestoft and Histon forward.
Manager Nick Davis said: “It’s not often players that ring you turn out to be any good but I got a call a couple of weeks ago from Remell who said he fancied coming down and that he would score goals for me.
“I thought to myself, ‘yeah, they all say that’ but I Googled him, read some good things - Lowestoft put him on contract in Conference North when he was 19 - and a few of our lads knew him and said he was a good player.
“He scored a fantastic goal against Redhill last Tuesday and we signed him after the game.”
Sittingbourne have spent all summer trying to sign a goalscorer.
The new man has exactly the qualities they have been after.
Boss Davis said: “He holds the ball up well, has pace and height, and he’s a decent lad.
“He has that hunger to do well and an arrogance that says ‘I’m going to get x amount of goals’.
