Kane Rowland broke the 20-goal barrier for Sittingbourne despite nursing a hernia problem all season.
Rowland's success in scoring 23 goals for the Brickies saw him named both manager's and supporters' player-of-the-year.
His return looks even more impressive after it emerged he'd been playing with a hernia injury.
The striker, who also missed the end of the season after breaking his hand, will have an operation this summer.
He said: "I've had the hernia all season but it's started to get worse over the last few months.
"It's not been easy at times.
"It's been on and off but hopefully I can get it sorted out now and be back for pre-season.
"It should be four or five weeks after the op."
Rowland is sure to be a wanted man after his prolific year at Woodstock Park.
He's yet to consider his future but could be back in Sittingbourne colours next season.
Rowland said: "I felt I had a good season.
"I had a little blip in the middle and missed the last five games with the broken hand but I'm happy with my return, even if I could have scored a few more.
"I haven't thought too much about next season yet because at the moment I've got my broken hand plus the hernia op coming up, so I'm focusing on getting fit first.
"Staying at Sittingbourne is definitely an option, I know they're keen on keeping me."
Rowland was surprised to see Nick Davis quit as Sittingbourne manager in January but has been impressed with successor Aslan Odev.
Odev finished with six wins and two draws in the final 10 games, including a 3-1 victory over Bostik South champions Carshalton.
Rowland said: "Nick leaving came out of the blue but I kind of understood his reasons.
"Aslan was already there as coach, so I don't think it affected the players too much, and he's done brilliantly over the last 10 games.
"It'll be interesting to see who stays this summer and who Aslan brings in but if they start next season as they finished this one, there's no reason why they can't have a good season."
