New Sittingbourne striker Kane Rowland has help in his corner as he bids to become a professional footballer.

Rowland’s 30 goals for Whitstable last season not only attracted interest from Brickies manager Nick Davis - it also alerted football agent Tim Miller, who feels he can help the 21-year-old achieve his ambition.

Miller’s Komarni Football Agency specialises in helping young players who have been released by pro clubs but Rowland is different, having come through the youth ranks at Ramsgate.

Miller doesn’t take a penny off players all the time they’re in non-league - it’s about helping youngsters.

Rowland said: “I’ve only recently got involved with Tim over the last month or so.

“He helps players in non-league get as high as possible into the pro game.

“He believes in me and thinks I might be able to go a bit higher. It’s good for my confidence to hear that.

“I think every player wants to play as high as they can - they’d be lying if they said they didn’t.

“It’s just very hard unless you start at a pro academy.

“Clubs might get in contact with Tim or he might get in contact with them but he doesn’t want to rush it and shoot me off to the next club.

“I’m looking to stay here and get a good season under my belt and see what happens.

“It’s important to get settled at one club because you’ll become confident and probably play better.”

Rowland will partner Miles Cornwell in a new-look attack at Sittingbourne.

It’s an exciting propect for Brickies fans as Rowland tests himself in Bostik South after moving up from Southern Counties East.

Rowland said: “Nick’s putting a good team together and it’s obviously a step up from the division I was in last year.

“It should be a good challenge and I’m looking to get 20-plus goals in that league.

“I’ve played against Nick over the years and it was nice for him to get in contact and say he wanted me at his club.

“I’m mainly just a goalscorer, however it comes, whether it’s off my knee or head or foot, I just try and stick it in the goal. As a striker that’s what you’ve got to do.

“I’m looking forward to playing with Miles. He looks like a good player.

“He went to Folkestone last year and banged in goals there as well, so hopefully we’ll do well together.”
