Sittingbourne boss Chris Lynch isn’t hanging about as he looks to overhaul the squad.
Seven players have been released and he’s already making good progress on finalising deals for nine of the new players he’s targeted.
It’s sure to be a busy summer ahead.
“A manager’s hard work starts now up until the beginning of next season,” said Lynch.
“There are a lot of phone calls to make and negotiations to take place.
“Nobody gets everything off their wishlist but we are already more than halfway through confirming five of them and we’re busy working on the other four.
“We know we can’t sign anyone yet officially, until the window reopens, which is still a month and a bit away but we’re working hard behind the scenes to make the club attractive both on and off the field.
“We are seeking new sponsors around Sittingbourne, there is a lot changing up here. We’ve improved facilities and we had a good crowd there on Saturday watching. I want people to see attractive football here and to be entertained.
“We’ve done a good job so far but there is massive room for improvement. We’ve got exciting times ahead.”
Lynch hasn’t named those heading for the exit door just yet before he’s had an opportunity to run through development plans with those players. He’s still keen to help those departing continue in the game.
He said: “I want every player to know why I have made the decision I have.
“There are seven players I have released and there are others who will come back for pre-season hopefully determined to learn and push on.
“I have indentified nine new targets and we’re working hard to bring them to the club. When the new squad comes together in pre-season it’s going to be strong.”
The Brickies benefited from the loan market under Lynch, with a trio of players on loan from Gillingham.
Roman Campbell finished as their seven-goal leading scorer, Jack Morrell was an ever-present at left-back and Henry Woods performed in midfield.
He’s been pleased to have those players onboard but won’t be relying on the loan market next season.
“You can’t have a team full of loan players but we may have one or two next season, if there are people that can come in and improve us,” added Lynch.
“We are starting in a much stronger position now though to build a solid squad and bring loanees in when we need to them.”
