Sittingbourne's Ryman League Division 1 play-off hopes were dealt a blow with a 1-0 defeat to Merstham at Bourne Park on Monday night.

Bourne had a penalty appeal turned down when it appeared Elie Kayembe was fouled inside the area, but the referee ruled it was outside and gave a free-kick.

The only goal of the game came when Merstham scored on the breakaway. Kayembe had gone close to scoring for Bourne, before the ball was kicked up field to substitute Gavin Gordon who netted past keeper Matt Reed.
