Sittingbourne have signed winger Kane Phillip from Herne Bay.
They beat off competition to land a player who caught manager Nick Davis’ eye when Brickies met Bay this season.
He made his debut in the 2-1 defeat at Hythe on Saturday and has been backed to make an impact.
Davis said: “It was difficult for him to come in because he’d not been playing much.
“We’ve got nine games left now to make a judgement on him but what he gives you is lots of pace and strength and he’s direct.
“When we’ve played well this season, we’ve had those qualities in abundance so he should fit in with how we play.
“He had a couple of clubs interested but coming here suits us and him. He needs a fresh challenge. He’s someone who stood out when we played Herne Bay away, so I’m hoping it works out.”
Sittingbourne have the chance to move back into the top half of Ryman League, Division 1 South, when they host bottom side Godalming on Saturday.
The Surrey side have conceded 114 goals in 37 games and are 17 points adrift of safety.
But they’ve improved recently and Davis has warned against complacency.
He said: “It does look like they’re gone but they’ve picked up a bit and while it’s still mathematically possible for them to stay up, they will be fighting for every point."
