Sittingbourne missed the opportunity to go second in the Ryman League, Division 1 South following a 1-0 home defeat to Worthing on Monday
In-form Worthing stretched their unbeaten league run to 15 games with the win, which moved them up to fourth and in the process nudged the Brickies down to fifth.
Gary Abbott’s Sittingbourne side missed a number of chances in the match and Worthing claimed the points thanks to a goal from Ben Andrews’ seventh minute free kick.
The defeat was Sittingbourne’s first in the league since mid-November.
