Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis looking no further than Ryman League survival next season

Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis says it will be an achievement to stay up next season.

Brickies have been frustrated in the transfer market, with Davis missing out on summer targets to rival clubs with bigger budgets.

He will keep trying but believes it will be difficult to compete in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Davis said: "It looks like we're going to have a youthful side, maybe even younger than last year.

"We'll keep plugging away and working hard but it is tough to get players in.

"We'll be giving chances to kids coming through and looking to develop players.

"We can't match what other clubs are paying but at least we'll have players who are here for the right reasons.

"Staying up would be a success next season for Sittingbourne, no matter what anybody says."

Davis is due to meet members of last season's squad tonight (Wednesday) to sign new Ryman League forms.

He added: "I've spoken to everyone from last season. We've lost three. I think the rest are staying but you never know, you can only go on what people tell you."
