Sittingbourne striker Miles Cornwell has made his best start to a season after a simple message from his manager.
Cornwell has scored five goals already this season - one more than last year's return.
Workrate alone has made him a valuable player but now he’s added goals to his game.
Boss Nick Davis said: “We’ve told him to make sure he shoots.
“He’s always been such an unselfish player.
“He gets in good areas then lays the ball off but forwards who get 20 goals have to be a bit selfish.
“We’ve said to shoot on sight and it’s working well when you think he’s already beaten his return from last season.
“The pressure’s off him and hopefully he can keep enjoying himself.”
Sittingbourne remain unbeaten in Ryman League Division 1 South after an impressive 1-1 draw at much-fancied Hastings last night.
They go to Whyteleafe on Saturday and host Ramsgate in the League Cup on Tuesday.
Davis said: “We’ve had a great start. We’re overachieving based on other people’s expectations but deep down I think we knew what we were capable of."
Brickies have made a seven-day approach for a winger and can speak to him today.
