THE cream of Kent's best young squash players are in action at Rodmersham Squash Club this weekend.
Around 80 youngsters will be competing for Kent Junior Closed Squash Singles titles across five age groups (under-19s, under-17s, under-15s, under-13s and under-11s).
The girls will compete in a round robin tournament on Saturday, and the boys, with a bigger field, face a straight knock-out competition. All semi-finals and finals take place on Sunday.
Players have entered from all over the county, including Maidstone, Canterbury, Biddenden, Tunbridge Wells, Dartford, Gravesend, Beckenham and Kings Hill. There is a record entry in the under-11s section.
Ted Jeal (Beckenham) is among the favourites for the under-17s and under-19s, while Elliot Knight (Bexley) has been tipped for the under-15s.
Maidstone-based brothers Josh (12) and Brad (10) Masters are expected to produce good showings, as is Emily Berwick, also from Maidstone.
