Manager Nick Davis believes Sittingbourne have had as good a season as anyone in the league.
Brickies are on 62 points in Ryman League Division 1 South after three straight wins and finish the campaign at South Park on Saturday.
It’s their highest total in eight years and a fine achievement for a side who expected to be fighting relegation. Instead of that, victory on the final day could see them finish in the top half.
Davis said: “Relatively speaking, I think we’ve had as good a season as anyone.
“It’s a hell of an achievement to get our highest points total in eight years. It didn’t look possible a few games ago but we’re finishing the season with a flourish.
“We’ve done it without anyone scoring double figures and we lost big players for various reasons. We’ve slowly had to rebuild and play a different way but we’ve managed to change and adapt.
“We’re 14th going into the last game and could still finish in the top half, which would be a fantastic achievement."
Sittingbourne players are travelling to South Park with the supporters, on one of two buses booked.
Davis feels it’s important to be close to the fans as a thank-you for their efforts this campaign.
He said: “We’re all travelling down together and we want to buy the fans a drink after the game because they’re a credit to the club.
“In the five seasons I’ve been here they’ve been immense. They’re a big part of whatever we do and, without doubt, they are the best away supporters in the league."
