Sittingbourne’s players have given their backing to manager Matt Wyatt after he offered to resign.
Wyatt described Saturday’s 3-0 FA Cup defeat at home to Dorking Wanderers as one of the worst he had encountered and asked the players if they wanted him to stay.
He said: “On Saturday we lacked composure, passion, desire and quality. It was one of the worst matches I have known in the three years I have been here.
“I have had teams that haven’t always been the best but they’ve been hard to break down, they’ve worked hard and they have passion. I didn’t see that on Saturday.
“After the game, I offered to resign to the players and then I walked out. If they don’t have the passion and desire to play for me then I am willing to resign.
“They said they were all behind me, which is nice.”
The Brickies, who drew 1-1 with Herne Bay in Ryman League Division 1 South on Tuesday, visit Walton Casuals on Saturday.
