Matt Wyatt fears constant talk of Sittingbourne’s poor away record will make players anxious.

Brickies start a run of three away games, at Crawley Down on Saturday, looking for their first points on the road this season.

They’ve lost all six matches on their travels and it’s only their outstanding home record that’s keeping them out of the relegation zone in Ryman League, Division 1 South.

Brickies’ task at Crawley will be harder without suspended top scorers Joe Taylor and Ryan Golding, but joint-boss Wyatt doesn’t want to put too much pressure on his players.

He said: “The more you talk to the players and say we need to get something here or do this and do that, the more anxious they’re going to get. We’ve been brilliant at home in taking 10 points out of 12 since me and Nick Davis took charge.

“The away form has to improve but we don’t believe there’s a lot wrong.

“The big thing for us is to score the first goal. We did it at Thamesmead in the FA Cup and that’s the only away game we’ve won since taking over."

Steve Okoh, Omar Folkes, Luke Girt and Kemo Darboe will be pushing to replace Golding and Taylor, but fellow striker Connor Coyne has left Brickies for Folkestone in search of regular football.
