Home Summer competitions Elephant week
To celebrate Elephant Week at Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury in Kent, we’re giving one lucky winner the chance to enjoy a roar-some trip with family tickets.
During the school holidays, Howletts’ Wild Summer will be shining the spotlight on a different species each week so you can find out more about your favourite animals.
From Monday, August 12 to Sunday, August 18 it’s Elephant Week and, to celebrate, there will be a themed activity trail, free animal feeds, talks from the experts, face painting and mask-making stations.
Howletts is home to the largest herd of African elephants in the UK. The herd of 13 elephants, including three calves, can currently be seen in the park’s eight-acre enclosure.
During your visit, look out for Tammi, the 34-year-old matriarch of the herd, and Nguvu, the playful calf and the youngest elephant in the park.
The Aspinall Foundation, Howletts’ charity partner, is currently working towards flying the 13 elephants 7,000km across the globe to return them to Africa in a first-of-its-kind rewilding project.
Your family ticket to Howletts will give two adults and two children a chance to see the park’s elephants, as well as the 390 other animals that live there, and explore the 90-acre parkland including Animals of the Ice Age trail and outdoor play areas.
Even if you don’t win, you can still take advantage of the new summer ticket value bundle offer at Howletts that give visitors great savings on group tickets.
