Police and paramedics were sent to a street this afternoon because of concerns over a distressed man.

An air ambulance also landed in Tenterden after an incident in Goodsall Road at about 4.30pm.

Witnesses say there were about four ambulances and five police cars in the area.

James Walker, spokesman for Kent Police said officers were called reports of a distressed man in the Three Fields Road area of Tenterden.

He added: "Officers attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and a man has since been taken to a local hospital for treatment."

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said paramedics were called to the scene at about 4.30pm and was joined by the air ambulance service.

"A man was treated at the scene before being airlifted to William Harvey Hospital in a serious condition," they said.

Officers remain at the scene this evening conducting inquiries to establish what happened.
