Shoppers could not be blamed if they thought they had been transported to Oz or if their double yellow lines had been re-painted a little too wide.

What could have been mistaken for bright coloured paint at a quick glance was in fact animal feed which had been spilt at the side of the road in Tenterden.

Some joked it reminded them of the infamous yellow brick road. Picture: Sue Ferguson/ My Tenterden

The trail of corn appeared along the High Street at around 10.30 am today (October 26) with many seeing the fun in the incident calling for farm animals to be brought in to help clear it.

One also joked: “For a moment I thought they had painted the yellow lines a little too wide.”

Another person added: “You could not make this up.”

It was also compared it to the infamous yellow brick road from The Wizard of Oz with a social media user posting a picture of Dorothy and friends dancing along.

Sue Ferguson of My Tenterden warned drivers to take “great care” while the area was cleared.

It is understood that the animal feed has since been swept away.

It comes as Southern Water complete works along the stretch of road after part of it collapsed.
