Man arrested after pedestrian injured in Oaks Road off Tenterden High Street

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Tenterden.
Police were called to Oaks Road off the High Street at 6:40pm on Sunday.
The driver was arrested. Police have since confirmed the pedestrian has died.
The A28 was closed from Turners Avenue up to the High Street by Prezzo, but pedestrians were allowed through.
Police closed the road for several hours as they investigated.
Pedestrians who had access to the High Street said they saw a car being looked over by an officer and that there was around 10 officers at the scene and four police cars at 11pm - more than four hours after the incident.
A spokesperson from Kent Police said: "Officers have been attending a collision in Tenterden, involving a car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian has been treated by ambulance crews for serious injuries and the driver has been arrested."
