POLICE investigating a fatal collision between an elderly woman and a recycling lorry in a Kent town have appealed to a driver who may have witnessed the incident.
The 77-year-old victim, who it is understood lived locally but has not yet been named, was crossing the high street in Tenterden, near Ashford, at around 9.20am yesterday.
The driver of the lorry was stationary at a set of temporary traffic lights and indicated to the driver of another vehicle, thought to be a car, that he could turn right in front of him.
The car then turned on to Oaks Road from the high street.
Police say the woman who died crossed the road from the left side and was pushing a wheeled shopping trolley on a frame.
Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to contact Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigating Unit on 01622 789538.
