A burglar ran away empty-handed after the home's elderly occupant woke up.

On Saturday, May 25, an octogenarian homeowner woke up from a nap to find a burglar stood in the kitchen doorway of her home on Springfield Avenue, St Michaels.

Upon seeing the woman, who woke at some time between 3pm and 6pm, the burglar darted away.

Police have released this CGI of the burglary suspect. (12222472)

Detective Constable Jo Heard said: "Luckily nothing was stolen, no one was hurt and the victim has been able to provide a good description of the suspect.

"We've released a computer-generated image of the man we believe is responsible and would like to hear from anyone who recognises him or witnessed the burglary."
