Positive reaction to town's new market place

THE crowds came out in force this morning for the first day of the new Tenterden market. The town's High Street was buzzing as scores of shoppers browsed the stalls.
Plans last year to move the market from Station Road to the High Street were met with controversy, but that seemed to have disappeared as stalls opened for the first time in their new setting.
Steve Wyatt, florist and market manager, said: "There were one or two negative comments, but there has been far more positive reaction than negative.
"Most of the traders found it easier to set up because the stalls were there for us."
There were traditional stalls selling fresh fish, flowers, cheese, fruit and vegetables and cake among the traders, who stretched out in front of the town hall.
