The road has been closed for most of the afternoon because of the damage.

No injuries have been reported, police confirmed.

But businesses have been affected with the vineyard taking to Twitter to apologise to customers that their phone line and emails were down.

Kent Highways warned motorists to allow extra time for their journey and to use an alternative route.
