A group of hooded men battered a man as he walked a quiet street, leaving him cut, bruised and with fractured bones in his back.

According to police, the 22-year-old was robbed of his wallet and an X Box controller and game after four or five men, wearing hooded tops, piled out of a white vehicle as he walked along Oaks Road, Tenterden, from Golden Square between 2am and 3am on Saturday.

He sustained cuts and bruises to his head, arm and hands, two wounds to his back which required stitches and two fractured bones in his lower back.
