A popular town market is finally set to return this week.

Tenterden's market will be making its post-covid return in time for Christmas.

Tenterden has a bustling Friday market

The market was an added attraction to the town before the pandemic, and is set to finally make its return on Friday.

Tenterden Town Council Clerk Debbie Baines said: "We are absolutely thrilled to announce the market is coming back at the end of November.

"The rejuvenated market will include high quality traders to complement our fantastic shops and will take place every two weeks due to the amazing response we have had from traders wanting to be part of our ever-popular High Street community.

"Tenterden Town Council recognises the impact of the market on the town and is providing stall holders with attractive gazebos to suit the prominent High Street location.

"The markets will be held on the second and fourth Fridays each month, starting on 26th November and finishing on 10th December for this year, where we will then have the usual winter break in January and February.

"It will return in spring 2022 - and we are very excited about it. It's a very positive step forward."

There are a number of traders booked for November and December.

Among the attractions on Friday are a French delicatessen, vintages antiques and collectables, children's clothes, ceramic goods and more.

The first December market will be on Friday 10 and attractions on that day will include a wide selection of gifts perfect for the festive holiday.

Ms Baines said: "The traders all bring something extra to Tenterden High Street on the days they will attend the market.

"All high streets were badly hit by Covid, but we are endeavouring to be one of the most visited high street destinations in the country thanks to everyone working together.

"Footfall remains high in our attractive high street, and we are all looking forward to a busy festive period.

"We invite both Tenterden residents and visitors from further afield to come and enjoy our markets as well as shopping in the town."
