A witness has described the harrowing moment a fatal crash took place outside his house.
Gerry Hunt had been lying in bed when he heard a loud noise outside his property near Tenterden.
The sound was caused by a van hitting his border hedge, after it was involved in a collision with a car coming the other way.
The collision on the A262 Biddenden Road occurred on Tuesday, March 15, at about 9.30am and involved a grey Skoda car and a white Mercedes van.
"I looked out of the window and saw the van first of all, it was buried in the hedge," said Mr Hunt.
"The car, which looked like it had been going in the other direction, was on the other side of the road facing the opposite way to where it had come from.
"By the time I had got there, people had already pulled the driver of the car out of his vehicle and were attempting CPR."
Tragically, the driver of the car - a man in his 70s - was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is being investigated by police, although no arrests were made at the scene.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are carrying out enquiries and urge anyone who saw the incident, or who has dashcam footage which may assist, to contact them.
