A town's huge Christmas Market has been cancelled due to coronavirus.
The decision over the Christmas Market and Parade in Tenterden was announced after the government introduced new restrictions due to Covid-19.
The event, which usually attracts 14,000 people over three days, was already in doubt following the cancellation of several other high-profile events across the county.
A spokeswoman for the market said: "Like many town and city based Christmas events, the market does not sit separately from the high street, but is fully integrated to maximise the visitor footfall for stall holders and local businesses alike.
"Any such event that is not held within a manageable space, in light of current guidelines would be a challenge to deliver; the safety of Tenterden’s residents, workforce and visitors are our upmost priority."
The organisers have also moved to address fears over lost income due to the market, which brings in a great deal of business to the town.
A new set of social media channels under the name @christmasintenterden are to be launched to encourage visitors to the town through October to early December, along with raising the profile of the makers, producers and retailers that would usually exhibit as part of the event.
Event co-ordinator Natasha Mahoney said: "The Tenterden Christmas event has always placed the community at its heart; each year behind the scenes we work with local schools, community groups and business from Tenterden and the wider area to deliver a first rate experience for residents and visitors.
"This year is unprecedented, and we must place the safety of our community first, however it is our intention to comeback bigger and better in 2021, with dates already marked on the calendar for 26-27-28 Nov 2021.
"Although the event will not be taking place, the town is very much open for business.
"The high street will be sparkling as usual with the Town Council committed to this year's Christmas lighting, and the Chamber of Commerce installing 100 shop Christmas trees, ensuring Tenterden’s seasonal postcard appeal."
