It’s the challenge that has seen grown men say “no more” as they have tried but failed to finish the 10terden Terminator breakfast.
Almost three months have gone by since the launch of the ultimate breakfast at Papa Joe’s Cafe in Ashford Road, St Michael’s, but still no one has managed to demolish the gargantuan fry-up.
Modelled on the American TV series Man Versus Food, the 7,500-calorie dish is packed with 512g of saturated fat and contains: 10 sausages, 10 rashers of bacon, 10 eggs, 10 tomatoes, 10 large mushrooms, 10 hash browns, five fried slices, five slices of toast, baked beans.
Cafe owner Sharon Naden, 44, promises customers that if they eat the dish in less than 30 minutes they won’t have to pay for it.
But dozens of body builders and beefy truck drivers have walked through her door and sat down to the breakfast feast, only to be defeated.
Sharon said: “A body builder from Dover came closest to eating it. He left two and a half sausages, two and half mushrooms and just one hash brown on his plate and told me that he just couldn’t eat any more.”
Mugshots of the failed diners are posted on Sharon’s wall of shame inside the cafe.
Pairs of diners are also invited to take the challenge and pay a reduced price of £10 if successful, instead of the usual £20. Two pairs have managed to consume the colossal feast in under 30 minutes.
Friends Luke Sorrell and Andrew Wade, from Smarden, hold the record as they cleared the plate – a one-and-a-half foot long dish – in 26 minutes. Their pictures are on Sharon’s wall of fame.
Sharon said: “The idea started out as a bit of fun from talking to the young lads who come in for their fry-ups after a night at the pub.
“Now we have got interest from across the world including New Zealand and Thailand where a cafe wanted to launch their own version of the challenge.
“We’ve had two million views of our Facebook page and more than 2,000 likes.”
The dish is only available at weekends and must be booked in advance.
Sharon added: “So far we haven’t had any women wanting to have a go.”
