A dog has been rescued by firefighters after a two-storey house caught alight while the owners were out.
Four fire engines were called to the blaze in Pluckley Road, Smarden, at 12.30pm today.
Crews wore breathing apparatus to enter the house and rescue the dog.
The fire affected the roof, first floor and part of the ground floor of the property.
A water unit and a height vehicle are at the scene and firefighters are using a fog spike to spray water into voids in the roof to bring the fire under control, as well as main jets and hose reels.
There are no reports of injuries and crews have saved some of the contents of the house.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
