A high street clothes shop has suddenly closed, shocking residents.
Phase Eight has permanently closed its doors in Tenterden without explanation.
The first hint shoppers were given was when a sign went up in the window on Tuesday, saying that the final trading day would be Thursday.
Now, the shop has been completely emptied of clothes with only three mannequins left in the window.
A note scribbled on the window simply reads 'Bye P8'.
The news has been greeted by shock and upset in the town, with many residents remarking that it will be missed.
One said: "It’s my favourite clothes shop. The staff are always so pleasant and helpful. I’m so upset."
Another commented that it was another sign of small towns being "decimated".
"There’s hardly any choice left in the high streets. Buying online is difficult when you can’t see what you’re getting," they added.
"What a shame, it will probably be yet another tea shop… Canterbury is full of eateries and coffee shops. I am so sorry for the staff."
While Phase Eight have been contacted for comment but have not responded, it is understood that all staff affected by the closure are remaining with the company.
