A horse in Tenterden had a lucky escape this morning after falling into a ditch.
Freddie was rescued by Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) after getting into trouble on a farm in Tenterden.
The KFRS Animal Rescue Unit was called to the scene and, along with a vet, worked out the best way to free Freddie safely.
The vet sedated the horse to keep him calm as the rescue team cut bushes back and slid glide sheets underneath him. They then used a crane to gently free him from the ditch.
After being rescued, Freddie was able to stand and walk around and is now being looked after by his owner, Suezanne.
She said: “It was amazing what the rescue team did – professional, calm, just fantastic. Freddie is feeling a bit sorry for himself now, I’ve been giving him lots of cuddles.”
